Batik Air adds new routes, supporting Subang Airport as a City Hub

Batik Air celebrates a significant milestone this month with the launch of multiple new routes, including four operating from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, Subang (SZB). And to mark the occasion, the arriving flight from Singapore on Friday 12th December was welcomed with a traditional water salute.

The new services to Singapore and Jakarta (from 8th December 2025), Johor Bahru (11th December 2025) and Langkawi (commencing 12th December) provides travellers with greater flexibility and an alternative to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA T1). This increase in flights also supports the governments Subang Airport Regeneration Plan (SARP), positioning SZB as a vibrant gateway that strengthens tourism growth and stimulates economic activity.

With its central location and ongoing upgrades, Subang Airport is steadily evolving into a key hub for both business and leisure travel.

Batik Air currently operates flights out of Subang to Penang, Kota Bharu, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, and Bangkok and now Singapore and Jakarta. The latest additions, which bring the airlines flight numbers to 34 per week, strengthen the airlines growing network, offering travellers enhanced accessibility and more convenient travel options across Malaysia and the region.

Batik Air CEO, Chandran Rama Muthy, said in his statement that Batik Air is supporting the transformation of SZB into a city airport that benefits passengers, local communities, and regional businesses.

He added that

…. As Malaysia prepares for Visit Malaysia Year 2026, these new routes play a critical role in opening our country to more visitors. Improved connectivity enables travellers to experience Malaysia’s diverse attractions with greater ease, while also strengthening economic ties, trade flows, and regional cooperation. Batik Air sees Subang as a pivotal part of this journey — a gateway that brings people and destinations closer, ensuring our network continues to evolve in line with future travel needs.

Likewise, Tourism Malaysia welcomes the initiative as launching more services between  Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia represents a significant step in strengthening tourism ties between as the country gears up for Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026).

2025 has been Visit Selangor Year 2025, and Chua Yee Ling, the CEO of Tourism Selangor, noted that Batik Air’s new routes comes at the perfect time, with 6.4 million tourist arrivals recorded up to Q3 2025. She added that these additional connections, the new direct flights to Indonesia in particular, which is the State’s strongest medical tourism market, will further boost arrivals into Selangor. The improved connectivity will also support the growing cruise sector in Klang and enhance overall accessibility within the Klang Valley. In response to a question from the floor, she also confirmed that the Tourism body is actively working towards the resumption of the KTMB rail link connecting the airport with the Subang KTMB and LRT station. This will, of course, be contingent upon progress in the on-going double tracking upgrades on the Port Klang Komuter line.Subang Airport
