AirAsia’s back in Pattaya, as the airline celebrates its service resumption from Kuala Lumpur to Thailand’s beach city. As Thailand’s eighth largest city, it’s famed for its beautiful beaches, water sports activities and entertainment venues.

The inaugural flight took off close to 90% full, departing from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (Terminal 2) at 11.20 am and landing in U-Tapao–Rayong–Pattaya International Airport at 12.05 pm local time. Guests onboard flight AK840 were welcomed by a water cannon salute upon arrival in Pattaya and warmly received by AirAsia Allstars and representatives from the Tourism Authority of Thailand.

The city is situated on the Eastern side of the Gulf of Thailand, south east of Bangkok, in Chon Buri province. Although the beachfront stretches for some 15km, the best known stretch is the 3km long Pattaya Beach, famous for its clear water and white sand. The northern section is said to be the quietest, but during the day there is a range of water sports available and after sundown, a vibrant nightlife.

The time in Pattaya is one hour behind Kuala Lumpur time.
