Brisbane is about to join the AirAsia network, with the launch of Brisbane-Bangkok services. Flights kick off in June 2019 with 4 flights per week. They will be operated by Thai AirAsia X from its base at Don Mueang Airport, Bangkok. As one of the world’s largest low-cost hubs, this puts travellers within reach of countless destinations, including 130 on AirAsia’s network alone.
While the Gold Coast saw the first ever AirAsia X flight to Kuala Lumpur over 10 years ago, Brisbane has yet to see those familiar red and white planes. This is a welcome move, with Brisbane being the last of Australia’s major gateways to see services from a long-haul low-cost airline other than Jetstar.

Travellers from Bangkok will have a night flight over to Brisbane, arriving just in time for lunch. We recommend pre-ordering breakfast off the Santan menu prior to flying to ensure you don’t miss out on a meal on this 9-hour flight.
The return trip is a day flight, leaving just after lunch. Arrival into Bangkok will allow late transfers to a handful of flights. Even if you are continuing your journey, this is a perfect excuse to check out Bangkok with an overnight stop.
Sale fares from AUD239
The inaugural flight departs Bangkok on 25 June 2019, touching down in Brisbane on 26 June at 11:35AM.
