Can Tho

AirAsia connects Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok to the biggest city in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta, Can Tho in April/May 2019. The CEOs of both AirAsia Malaysia and Thai AirAsia are both excited about the new routes. Both made mention of the contribution to the socio-economic development of the city. The new routes will provide new opportunities for the people in Mekong Delta to connect with Asean and beyond through the AirAsia network.

…. We are pleased to introduce Can Tho and further expand our network in Vietnam with our sixth route from Malaysia. As the largest foreign airline group by capacity in Vietnam, we are also excited to be the first international airline flying directly into Can Tho from Malaysia.  AirAsia Malaysia CEO Riad Asmat

His Thai AirAsia counterpart concurred, saying that the route is an important addition to its network in Vietnam.

…. Can Tho should prove an interesting destination for Thai travellers looking for new experiences with its riverside lifestyle and floating market right at the mouth of the Mekong River. A direct connection from Thailand to Can Tho will make travel much more convenient for both Thai and foreign tourists. Santisuk Klongchaiya, CEO of Thai AirAsia

Why Can Tho?

Located on the southern bank of the Hau River, Can Tho is famous for its floating markets, rice paper and pottery making villages and picturesque rural canals. Often referred to as the “Rice Bowl of Vietnam” due to its fertile soil, Can Tho is also the largest agricultural producer in the Mekong Delta.

The area is home to Can Tho Bridge, the longest main span cable-stayed bridge in Asean and Ninh Kieu Wharf, a popular spot to watch the sunset.

Visit Binh Thuy Ancient House, a French-style house built in 1870 as a place of worship for the Duong Family. The house was restored in the early 20th century.

Cai Rang Floating Market is the city’s most popular floating market as the region’s rich soil makes it the country’s main source of agricultural produce.
