This large-scale national 192 km long project includes 11 new stations and has been realised through the strategic collaboration of three (3) key entities — the Ministry of Transport Malaysia (MOT) as the policy leader, Malayan Railways Berhad (KTMB) as rail service operator and Railway Assets Corporation (RAC) as the asset owner and driver of integrated development. This integration marks an important phase in the modernisation of the country’s rail transport system, in line with Malaysia’s aspirations towards a fast, modern, safe and sustainable mobility network. The ETS journey from Johor Bahru to KL Sentral takes just 4.5 hours.Gemas-Johor Bahru

Development and Sustainability commitments

The Railway Assets Corporation (RAC) also also presented a land development plan for 268 acres of land in Mukim Tebrau (PTD 40050) which will encompass

  • 214 acres for Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) development,
  • 54 acres for railway operations with a potential development value of RM20 billion over a period of 15 – 20 years.

They have also developed procedures to strengthen their sustainability commitment in conjunction with PERHILITAN (Department of Wildlife and National Parks Peninsular Malaysia), the government body responsible for protecting, managing, and conserving wildlife and national parks in Peninsular Malaysia.

  • Installation of 10-unit GPS Collar for wildlife monitoring along the PLBEGJB alignment with an allocation of RM500,000
  • Implementation of 21 elephant food bank locations along the migration route in collaboration with PERHILITAN

PERHILITAN handle licensing, enforcement, and conservation efforts for species like elephants, tigers, and tapirs and they’re also the ones to call to remove snakes and other non-domestic animals that visit your neighbourhood.
