In a statement issued on 3rd December 2025, Malaysia’s Transport Ministry confirms that the search for MH370, will resume. The flight disappeared from radar on 8th March 2014, enroute between Kuala Lumpur and Beijing about 40 minutes after taking off from Kuala Lumpur International Airport KLIA, and despite some apparent evidence of wreckage retrieved from the Indian Ocean, results have been inconclusive. It is hoped that the search may find evidence that will help provide some closure to the relatives of those on board, twelve Malaysian crew members and 227 passengers.

As to how the missing aircraft apparently ended up in the Southern Indian Ocean despite the planned route to Beijing, the search has relied on data that shows the flight was tracked by Malaysian military’s primary radar system for an hour after it disappeared from the civilian radar, turning westward from its planned flight path and crossing the Malay Peninsula above Penang, before flying over the Andaman Sea. Data retrieved from the aircraft’s interaction with an Inmarsat satellite suggests a path that ended in the search location.
