Singapore Airlines has extended their Formula 1® Singapore Grand Prix Title Sponsorship for three more years. The F1 title sponsorship makes the airline the title sponsor for the next three races, beginning with this year’s race between 30th September and 2nd October 2022. The Singapore Grand Prix is one of Formula 1’s premier and most-anticipated events, as drivers race through the Marina Bay Street Circuit against the spectacular backdrop of the city’s night-time skyline.
Although Singapore first hosted this prestigious event in 2008, SIA only signed on as the title sponsor in 2014 for four years. This was subsequently extended in 2018 and 2020 for two years on each occasion.
What F1 Title sponsorship means
The annual Formula One race is a big event on the country’s tourism calendar, attracting visitors from across the world. Singapore Airlines brings many of these visitors, from across their extensive route network.
The original Singapore Grand Prix using modified road cars was held at Thomson Road between 1966 and 1973. It’s likely this was dropped partly due to safety concerns, a big consideration in this street race over a tight circuit. Singapore’s Grand Prix is the original F1 night race and returns to the F1 calendar in 2022, after both the 2020 and 2021 races were cancelled due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.
The latest three-year extension of F1 sponsorship was announced by SIA Executive Vice President Commercial Lee Lik Hsin and Formula 1 Managing Director of Commercial Brandon Snow.

Brandon Snow is also pleased that Singapore Airlines will continue to be the F1 Title sponsorship of the Singapore Grand Prix for another three years. He also made the point that this year’s race will see further use of renewable energy and sustainable materials, noting that the commitments from Singapore Airlines towards sustainable aviation fuels reflect the continued alignment between all partners and Formula 1 in reducing environmental impact.
