Singapore Airlines (SIA) will introduce a fifth Kolkata service from 29th March 2020. At the same time, the Airline’s regional wing SilkAir will cease services to this Indian city. This is part of SIA Group’s integration plans which see SilkAir continue flights to four other points in India.
Kolkata Services
Weekly SIA flights to Kolkata currently stand at four with SilkAir operating three services. The additional service increases SIA flights to five times weekly, operated by A350-900 medium haul aircraft. These aircraft are equipped with the Airline’s latest regional cabin products for Business Class and Economy Class. This aircraft carries 40 Business Class and 263 Economy Class passengers.
Along with their Kolkata service, SIA flies to five destinations in India. These are Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai and New Delhi. Low-cost subsidiary, Scoot, flies to seven points in India, Amritsar, Chennai, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Trivadrum, Tiruchirappalli and Visakhapatnam. From 29th March, SilkAir will service four cities in India, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kochi. This will bring the number of SIA Group airlines Indian services to more than 140 flights per week.
Tickets for SIA’s additional Kolkata flights are now available on the Singapore Airlines website. Customers with existing bookings on SilkAir’s Kolkata flights on and after 29 March 2020 will be re-accommodated on SIA’s flights.
