Use Public Transport during the ASEAN Summit

The Malaysian Ministry of Transport has advised all travellers and visitors in and around Kuala Lumpur City to use public transport for the duration of the upcoming 47th ASEAN Summit to be held in Kuala Lumpur between 26th and 28th October 2025. As traffic may also be impacted before and after the event, normal schedules will be in operation. Remember that extra demand will also mean some crowding, so allow extra time. Press Release of the Ministry Of Transport Public Transport Facilities in conjunction with The 47th Asean Summit and Related Summits

The MADANI government through the Ministry of Transport Malaysia (MOT) is taking proactive and comprehensive measures to ensure the smooth movement of the public and international delegations in conjunction with the 47th ASEAN Summit, Related Summits, and supporting programs that will take place from 26 to 28 October 2025 in Kuala Lumpur.

As a preparatory measure, Rapid KL will enhance public transport facilities including extending train operations during peak hours, increasing travel frequency, deploying additional staff at major stations, and enhancing operational monitoring throughout the period.

This measure is in line with the MADANI Government’s efforts to provide a more convenient, efficient and agile public transport system, in line with the principles of kindness and well-being of the people in the MADANI Malaysia idea.

In addition, the implementation of these improvements is also being carried out to encourage the use of public transport following the implementation of road diversions and dispersal in stages by the authorities on several main routes in and out of the capital during the summit period.

 KL RAPID RAIL SERVICE

Starting from 27 to 28 October 2025, Rapid KL rail service operations will be extended for one (1) hour during morning and evening peak hours.

Train frequency on 25th and 26th October 2025 (Saturday & Sunday) has also been increased to accommodate the expected increase in passenger numbers.

Rapid KL will also operate additional trains in case of increased passenger numbers or as per current operational requirements. An additional 400 staff will be stationed at the main station to help smooth the movement of users and ASEAN delegations.Asean Summit

KL BUS & RAPID SERVICES ON-DEMAND

  • Route 300 (Hub Pandan Indah – Lebuh Ampang)

  • Rapid KL On-Demand (Zon Titiwangsa – Chow Kit)
  • Rapid KL On-Demand (Zon CBD)

Users heading to KLCC and surrounding areas are advised to use rail services as an alternative. Nearby rail stations include:

  • Station KLCC (Route Kelana Jaya)
  • Station Persiaran KLCC (Route Putrajaya)
  • Station Raja Chulan (Monorel KL)
  • Station Conlay (Route Putrajaya)
  • Station Bukit Bintang (Route Kajang dan Monorel KL)

KTM COMMUTER SERVICES OPERATING AS USUAL

Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) announced that the Klang Valley KTM Komuter services will operate according to the existing schedule for the Pulau Sebang – Batu Caves – Pulau Sebang and Tanjung Malim – Port Klang – Tanjung Malim routes.

Train tickets can be purchased via the KTMB website or the KTMB Integrated Ticketing System (KITS) application.

EXPRESS RAIL LINK (ERL) SERVICES

KLIA Ekspres services will operate as usual with increased train frequencies to ensure smooth travel for 47th ASEAN Summit delegates and passengers travelling to and from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (Terminal 1 and Terminal 2).

For KLIA Transit services, additional trains will be provided at 1.00 am from KLIA Terminal 2 to KL Sentral. The KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit timetables for the period 22 to 28 October 2025 have also been updated to accommodate the increased number of passengers during the period.

The public is encouraged to plan their journeys in advance and refer to the latest timetable via the official KLIA Ekspres website or mobile application to enjoy a smooth and comfortable travel experience.Asean Summit

  • Before 9.00 am: Every 20 minutes
  • After 9.00 pm: Every 20 minutes

  • Additional train service at 1.00am from KLIA Terminal 2 to KL Sentral

ADVICE TO THE PUBLIC

Rapid KL and KTMB also assured that all public transport assets and facilities are in good condition and fully prepared to accommodate the increased number of passengers during the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits.

The public is advised to plan their journeys in advance, follow the latest information via Rapid KL’s official social media channels or the PULSE app, and consider using rail services to avoid any inconvenience.

MOT calls on city residents to make full use of public transport facilities to facilitate movement to hotspots and contribute to the smooth flow of traffic during the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits.
