A new fare pricing structure will be introduced for booking Singapore Airlines (SIA) and SilkAir flights from 20th January 2018. Revisions will also affect
- advance seat selection
- frequent flyer programme mileage accrual rates
- baggage allowance and
- change and refund flexibility
for some fare types.
The new fare pricing structure will offer up to three types of airfare depending on the class of travel and allows passengers more flexibility when booking.
New Fare Pricing Structure
Economy Class
There will be three fare types: ‘Lite’, ‘Standard’ and ‘Flexi’. These will offer more choices for:
- Baggage allowance
- increase to 35kg for the highest-category Flexi fares
- remains at 30kg for Lite and Standard fares
- PPS Club members get an additional 30kg
- KrisFlyer Elite Gold members get an additional 20kg
- Advance seat selection, currently free of charge for all Economy Class bookings will change as follows:
- Chargeable for Lite fares, starting from USD5 per flight segment.
- Advance seat selection remains free, for families with children 12 years old and under, in the same booking.
- No charges for advance seat selection for Standard and Flexi fare types
- A new category of high demand Forward Zone seats, charged as Standard fares.
- Charges will also apply for Extra Legroom seats, previously known as Preferred seats.
Customers will be able to make seat selection at no charge during the Internet check-in window regardless of fare type. This period is up to 48hr in advance of travel and subject to availability.
KrisFlyer members enjoy a number of benefits.
- Complimentary advance seat selection will be available, regardless of fare type, for
- PPS Club members for Standard, Forward Zone and Extra Legroom seats
- KrisFlyer Elite Gold members – Standard and Forward Zone seats
- KrisFlyer Elite Silver members – Standard seats
- Mileage accrual rates will be set at
- 50% for Lite fares,
- 75% for Standard fares
- 100% for Flexi fares
Premium Economy Class (Singapore Airlines only)
Two fare types will be available – ‘Standard’ and ‘Flexi’.
- Baggage allowance remains unchanged at 35kg for both fare types.
- PPS Club members get an additional 35kg
- KrisFlyer Elite Gold members get an additional 20kg
- Mileage accrual, currently set at 110% for all Premium Economy fares,
- increases to 125% for the new Flexi fare type,
- reduced to 100% for the new Standard fare type.
- Advance seat selection continues to be available at no charge for all Premium Economy Class bookings, however:
- charges will apply for Extra Legroom seats other than PPS Club members, who get this free
Passengers flying in Business Class, Suites and First Class have a number of improved benefits, in particular relating to their KrisFlyer status.
