FlyFirefly Sdn. Bhd. has introduced their latest travel product, Firefly Travel Protection, in conjunction with AIG Malaysia Insurance Berhad. The official launch at the Subang Skypark home of the airline on 24th June 2015 also unveiled new livery on one of their ATR 72-600 aircraft. The airline currently flies 17 ATR 72-500/600 planes with number eighteen, an ATR 72-600 arriving in the next month or so.
The new tie-up will make comprehensive travel insurance available to Firefly customers when flight tickets are purchased online, through ticketing offices and appointed travel agents. Insurance protection will be available to travellers flying out of Malaysia and Singapore.
Among the benefits of the coverage Firefly customers will enjoy are medical benefits of up to RM75,000, travel assistance for inconveniences including travel delays or cancellations and 24-hour worldwide emergency travel repatriation assistance. Acts of terrorism, hijacking and natural disasters are also covered and customers are protected against loss, damage, and delay of baggage and personal belongings throughout a trip.
Immediate customer support in the event of covered mishaps is provided by AIG’s global assistance service centre, AIG Travel Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. (Malaysia branch) including medical advice from in-house doctors and nurses who are on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Apart from the comprehensive benefits of the travel insurance, customers, whether purchasing airline tickets or not, will have the opportunity to purchase AIG Auto Insurance through the weblink within the Firefly website at competitive rates.
CEOs of both companies, Firefly’s Ignatius Ong and AIG’s Antony Lee, are clearly enthusiastic about the partnership and both expressed this sentiment in their comments to media attending the launch.
