Malaysia Aviation Group adds over 200 extra Raya flights

The airlines in Malaysia Aviation Group, Malaysia Airlines and Firefly, are adding over 200 extra Raya flights during the upcoming Ramadhan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri peak travel period on a number of busy routes, making it easier for families to reunite this festive season.

Extra Raya flights and additional seats

Malaysia Airlines is adding up to 200 additional flight frequencies, with aircraft upgrades on some routes. The domestic routes with extra services include

  • Alor Setar
  • Kota Bharu
  • Terengganu
  • Miri
  • Sibu
  • Kuching
  • Tawau
  • Sandakan
  • Kota Kinabalu

In addition, the airline is also be offering fixed all-in one-way fares starting from RM389 to Sabah and RM319 to Sarawak for specific red-eye flights. Bookings are available until 9th April 2025 for travel between 26th March and 9th April 2025 from the Malaysia Airlines’ official website and mobile app.
Sister airline Firefly will launch a special campaign from 7th March to 20th March 2025, offering promotional fares starting at RM69 for travel between 7th March and 30th November 2025. The airline will add up to 40 additional flights for its jet and ATR-operated flights to destinations including Kota Bharu, Kota Kinabalu, Penang, Johor Bahru, Kuching, Tawau to accommodate heightened demand.

Malaysia Airlines and Firefly are also supporting the government’s initiative of subsidising airline ticket pricing during Raya festive by capping the base fare to maximum RM499 one-way* on economy class for flights between Kuala Lumpur and East Malaysia. *Not inclusive of government taxes and fees. Travel between 27th March and 30th March 2025. 

The promotion was launched by Malaysia’s Minister of Transport,  Loke Siew Fook, who noted:

…. We recognise MAG airlines’ initiative to increase flight frequencies and cap fares during the festive season, ensuring that more Malaysians can reunite with their loved ones affordably and conveniently.
