Travellers on Malaysia’s national carrier Malaysia Airlines, can look forward to a comfortable ride on their new A330neo aircraft as they increase the number in their fleet. Parent company Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) has exercised its purchase rights for an additional 20 of the type through a direct order with Airbus.
This latest acquisition will help position Malaysia Airlines as one of the largest A330neo operators in the Asia-Pacific region, coming on top of MAG’s initial commitment in 2022 for 20 A330neo aircraft. These twenty aircraft, 10 directly purchased and 10 leased from Avolon bring the Group’s current total A330neo commitment to 40 aircraft to date. Deliveries from the additional batch are scheduled between 2029 and 2031.
The A330neo are part of MAG’s fleet modernisation programme, allowing them to serve high-growth markets more efficiently while enhancing the overall travel experience using the latest in cabin design.

His comments were echoed by Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, EVP Sales of the Commercial Aircraft at Airbus who added”

MAG has taken delivery of four A330neo aircraft at the time of writing, currently operating on selected services to Auckland, Melbourne, and Bali. Six more are scheduled for delivery by the end of the year, with the remaining aircraft from the original order set to arrive progressively through to 2028.
