Malaysia Airlines festival flights will be further increased in response to heightened travel demand during the upcoming Chinese New Year and school holidays from February to March 2024.
The airline has added an extra 124 flights to cater to its domestic network and selected international routes departing from its main hub in Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 1 (KUL).
In addition, the airline will upgrade a total of 12 aircraft during the Chinese New Year period to accommodate passengers departing to and from Kota Kinabalu (BKI), Kuching (KCH) and Penang (PEN), using their Airbus A330-200 & A330-300 aircraft.
Malaysia Airlines’ sister airline Firefly recently operated their first international flight to the east coast Sabah district of Tawau. The charter flight, which departed from Nanjing China, carried 157 passengers into Tawau on 23rd January 2024. Firefly will operate the charter flights three times weekly, scheduled to arrive in Tawau every Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday with a 540-seat capacity per week, until the end of March 2024. Tawau is an ideal jumping off sport for travellers heading for beautiful dive spots like Sipadan which are close by.
