Malaysia Airlines and IndiGo Boost Codeshare Connectivity

After inking their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in April 2024, Malaysia Airlines and IndiGo enter a strategic partnership aimed at boosting codeshare connectivity and improving traveller experience across their key hubs in Malaysia and India.

What does codeshare connectivity offer travellers?

Malaysia Airlines customers will gain wider access to destinations within India when the airline’s flight code “MH” is added to seven (7) domestic destinations in India, Kolkata, Varanasi, Patna, Tiruchirappalli, Goa, Bhubaneswar, and Visakhapatnam. Passengers can then connect through to these destinations from the airline’s current direct routes to 10 key hubs in India. Malaysia Airlines currently flies direct to New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Trivandrum and Kolkata.

Conversely, IndiGo’s “6E” flight code will be added to Malaysia Airlines domestic flights from its main hub at KL International Airport Terminal 1 to domestic destinations including Penang, Langkawi, Johor Bahru, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching. This offers travellers from India added travel options to explore the beauty of Malaysia.

He added that the collaboration offers Malaysia Airlines customers greater access to India’s rich cultural and economic landscape, while those from India can more easily experience Malaysian hospitality. The codeshare connectivity also helps boost tourism growth between them, especially with the visa-free entry for tourists between the two countries.
