AirAsia Group, along with its medium-haul affiliates AirAsia X and Thai AirAsia X, has been re-certified as a seven-star airline by AirlineRatings.com. This rating is based on enhanced safety criteria rather than other factors which are more subjective. All rated airlines, including AirAsia, have achieved IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) accreditation, which is a global benchmark for safety standards.
Requirements for IOSA accreditation
AirAsia’s seven-star rating reflects its strong commitment to safety. This is achieved through extensive employee training, a highly experienced engineering team and rigorous maintenance procedures. AirAsia also has a robust internal safety management system and meets high global safety standards, including certifications like the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Part 145 approval.
