Since retiring their ATR aircraft previously used for all services out of Subang SkyPark in February, Batik Air returns the popular Subang to Penang route to their lineup , using aircraft from their Boeing 737 fleet commencing on 1st August 2024. With initial flights operating three times weekly, expanding to daily services from 15th August.

Being able to utilise their larger B737 aircraft on this route marks a significant milestone for Batik Air, as this aircraft offers an enhanced travel experience with spacious seating and generous legroom—a notable upgrade from the smaller ATR 72 aircraft. Subang serving as an excellent alternative to KLIA, catering to over 8 million Klang Valley residents with greater convenience and travel options.

This enhancement to the network  will provide travellers with flexible scheduling options, ensuring greater convenience for all passengers. Subang SkyPark (SZB) (formally named as Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport) is effectively the Klang Valley’s Commuter airport, as it is conveniently located close to Kuala Lumpur Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam and Klang. Subang Skypark, strategically located in the heart of the Klang Valley, is a 30-minute drive from Kuala Lumpur and if the KTM SkyPark Link service is reinstated in the near future, it will also be easily accessible by public transport.

Penang, popular with both business and leisure travellers, is renowned for its rich cultural heritage, delectable cuisine, and vibrant economy, remains one of Malaysia’s premier travel destinations. The increased flight frequency from Subang to Penang will offer passengers greater flexibility and facilitate more seamless travel plans.

Batik Air Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy, said that the reinstatement of the SZB – PEN route is a strategic move aimed at strengthening regional connectivity.
