Batik Air Malaysia has introduced baggage flexibility for Domestic and ASEAN Travellers as they unveil their new unbundled baggage fares, offering a ‘zero check-in baggage’ option at a lower price. This revised fare is applicable only for Domestic and ASEAN routes, for bookings commencing 1st May, with travel dates starting from June 1st, 2024.
What is baggage flexibility?
From 1st May, passengers who select Super Saver Economy Class will be able to choose to either purchase baggage allowance or travel with none, affording them the option to travel light. Passengers can pre-purchase baggage allowances on Batik Air’s website for a lower rate while booking their flight, or at the airport Check-in Counter at a standard price upon checking-in. You can check pricing on their baggage page.
Meanwhile, passengers who opt for the Economy Class Value fare will receive 10kgs free baggage allowance and the Economy Class Flexi fare will have 20kgs free baggage allowance.
Commenting on the policy change, Batik Air CEO, Chandran Rama Muthy noted that the airline recognises the diverse and changing needs of air travellers, especially in the Domestic and ASEAN markets. He explained that
…. This revision aims to offer our customers the increased flexibility they seek for their short-haul travel, allowing them to travel light and benefit from lower airfares without being burdened with unnecessary costs.
and further added:
…… At the same time, the pre-purchase baggage options offered at reasonable prices enable travellers to tailor their travel plans and manage their choices during their booking process on Batik Air website. By implementing these new fares, we aim to make air travel with us more affordable for the savvy air traveller.
