Batik Air is stepping into the upcoming Chinese New Year period with a strengthened focus on reliability, affordability and improved passenger experience, underpinned by the launch of its festive Batik Air Fixed Fares campaign and a major expansion of its aircraft fleet. At the launch event, the Transport Minister highlighted the importance of accessible travel during the peak festive period, noting that

…. Chinese New Year is a time of family, reunion, and reflection – a season when Malaysians travel across the country to be with loved ones.Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook.

He praised the airline’s efforts to support early travel planning, calling the initiative “a forward-thinking initiative that demonstrates the airline’s commitment to passengers.”

Batik Air Fixed Fares and extra flights

The Batik Air Fixed Fares programme offers families predictable, reliable pricing on key domestic routes during what is traditionally one of the busiest travel periods of the year. Fixed fares are now available from Kuala Lumpur or Subang to Kuching starting from RM318 one-way, and to Kota Kinabalu from RM378, along with additional flights on routes, including Johor Bahru to Penang and Sibu. Travellers can also refer to the airline’s published Extra Flights for Chinese New Year schedule for more options.

Major Fleet Expansion

Alongside its festive initiatives, Batik Air is undertaking a significant operational expansion. Chief executive officer Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy announced that the airline plans to add 10 new aircraft this year, comprising Boeing 737s and Airbus A330s, bringing its fleet to 63 planes. He said the increased number of aircraft will provide

…. more standby aircraft available which allows us to better manage disruptions such as adverse weather conditions and reduce knock-on delays.

This expansion strengthens connectivity from Subang Airport and enhances the airline’s resilience across its regional and international network.

Chandran also shared that Batik Air is targeting an on-time performance rate of 85 per cent by mid-year, after achieving consistent performance above 70 per cent in recent months. Improvements in capacity planning and aircraft availability have contributed to this upward trend, supporting the airline’s broader goal of reducing travel fatigue and offering a smoother alternative to long road journeys during the festive season.

The Minister also acknowledged Batik Air’s commitment to long-term passenger support through programmes such as the Batik Air Student Fare, which supports students not just in Malaysia, but Internationally. He highlighted the role of such initiatives in strengthening national connectivity and accessibility.

As families prepare for reunion travel, the combined efforts of fleet expansion, operational improvements and the assurance offered by Batik Air Fixed Fares ensure a more seamless festive journey. With its continued focus on reliability and affordability, Batik Air is well-positioned to support Malaysians this Chinese New Year and beyond, with the Batik Air Fixed Fares campaign at the heart of its efforts.
