Malaysian Airlines Batik Air and AirAsia have both issued statements regarding the temporary cancellation of flights to and from Lahore, Pakistan and Amritsar, India on 7th and 8th May 2025, due to the closure of Pakistani airspace. Airlines are monitoring the situation and we suggest that is you are affected, please check their websites for updated information. Confirmed passengers should receive an email or message regarding any such disruptions, so make sure these details on your booking are up to date.

Batik Air Malaysia
Temporary Flight Cancellations to Lahore and Amritsar Due to Airspace Closure
In view of the prevailing situation between Pakistan and India, Batik Air has cancelled its flight to and from Lahore, Pakistan and Amritsar, India for 7th and 8th May 2025.

Statement from AirAsia
AirAsia Malaysia (flight code AK) temporarily suspends flights to and from Amritsar, India from 7 to 9 May 2025 following the closure of Amritsar Airport (ATQ).
AirAsia is closely monitoring the situation and committed to prioritising the safety and security of our guests and crew. It has notified all guests affected by the temporary flight suspension. Guests who are travelling to/from Amritsar are encouraged to check their registered email and mobile phones for suspension notifications.
Guests with cancelled flight bookings to/from Amritsar from 7 to 9 May 2025 have been provided with a range of Service Recovery Options (SRO) to facilitate their travel plans:

Full refund to the original form of payment mode; OR
-
Credit account valid for 730 days from the date of issuance; OR
-
Reroute their flight to Delhi (DEL) or Jaipur (JAI) within 30 calendar days from the original travel date; OR
-
Change flight for free to a new travel date/time of their choice within 30 days from the original departure date without any additional cost, subject to seat availability.
Guests will receive direct notifications via their registered email and SMS. These service recovery options apply to bookings made through airasia.com or the AirAsia MOVE app, while guests who booked through travel agents (online or offline) are advised to contact their respective booking channels for assistance.
Guests with flight bookings on affected flights to/from Amritsar between 8 and 14 May 2025 who wish to voluntarily change their flights may choose from the following options:

Change flight for free to a new travel date/time of their choice within 30 days from the original departure date without any additional cost, subject to seat availability; OR

Reroute their flight to Delhi (DEL) or Jaipur (JAI) within 30 calendar days from the original travel date; OR
-
Credit account valid for 730 days from the date of issuance.
AirAsia strongly encourages all guests to update their contact details at airasia.com to ensure that they are notified of any updates to their flights.
Other flight operations are currently ongoing with slight adjustments, including rerouting certain routes to avoid the airspace and ensure safety, in line with guidance from the relevant authorities.
Malaysia Airlines
Although Malaysia Airlines flies daily to Amritsar, their website currently has no specific information about cancellations. However they are not accepting bookings for 8th or 9th May to Amritsar. Malaysia Airlines does not offer direct flights to Lahore, only code share services via Doha with Qatar Airways.
