If you’ve been wanting to visit Australia’s ‘top end’, you can now buy your ticket for a direct flight on AirAsia to Darwin, with flights due to begin in June 2025. This is a first for AirAsia, as this is an AK flight, all other flights are D7 services except one to Perth, operated by AirAsia’s longer distance AirAsia X.
Services are due to take off from 27th June 2025, offering travellers a more affordable option to explore the vibrant capital of Australia’s Northern Territory, with four flights weekly. Darwin is a perfect gateway to breathtaking landscapes, out of the box adventures, and rich cultural experiences. Well known attractions include the stunning sunsets over Mindil Beach, wildlife encounters at Crocosaurus Cove and a jump off point to experience the spectacular dual UNESCO World Heritage Listed Kakadu National Park, renowned for its stunning natural beauty and rich Indigenous culture.
AirAsia Malaysia (flight code AK) continues to expanding in Australian markets. Since March 2024, the airline has been flying to Australia for the first time, between Kuala Lumpur and Perth, supporting sister airline AirAsia X (flight code D7) which also flies that route, due to strong demand. AirAsia Group (Malaysia & Indonesia) operates in Perth and Cairns whereas AirAsia X flies to Melbourne, Sydney and Perth. Currently, the airline serves four Australian cities and with Darwin joining the network with flights from Bali starting 22nd March from and 27th June from Kuala Lumpur, it will become its fifth destination in the country.
