AirAsia takes over Perth Route with two daily flights

AirAsia has taken over the Kuala Lumpur – Perth Route from its sister company AirAsia X and will increase the number of flights from June 2025 to twice daily. Using their Airbus A321neo aircraft, which carries 236 passengers in a single class, single aisle configuration, the journey will take five and a half hours.

This development was jointly announced at an AirAsia and Tourism Western Australia (TWA) event on 14th May 2025. The airline and Tourism body are collaborating to spur further travel between Malaysia and Perth, one of AirAsia’s key Australian destinations.

Use ‘AAPERTWA’ for expanded Perth Route Promo fares

To celebrate the partnership, AirAsia is giving away RM400,000 worth of discount codes for flights on the Kuala Lumpur to Perth route, with each code valued at RM200. To enjoy RM200 off, travellers need to key in the promo code ‘AAPERTWA’ when booking the flights . Please note that the discount codes have been allocated over the duration of the campaign, with a fixed number available each month. Book your seats during the campaign period from 14th May to 31st July 2025, for travel by 31st December 2025 on a first-come, first-served basis.

*The promo code is valid only for the base fare and applies to AirAsia return flights between Kuala Lumpur and Perth. The promo code ‘AAPERTWA’ will need to be keyed in at the homepage. Each RM200 promo code will be applied as RM100 for the KUL–PER sector and RM100 for the PER–KUL sector. Any unused balance will be forfeited and is not redeemable for future use. A total of 2,000 promo codes will be allocated for the campaign period from 14 May to 31 July 2025, with a monthly cap of 666 codes on a first-come, first-served basis.

This initiative is part of AirAsia’s broader commitment, intended at encouraging travel whilst rewarding travellers, making air travel more accessible and affordable. The campaign also aims to complement Western Australia’s ‘Walking On A Dream’ global tourism brand, designed to elevate the state’s profile as a unique and aspirational destination.

His comments were echoed by Anneke Brown, Managing Director of Tourism Western Australia, who added that the partnership with AirAsia marks an exciting step forward in welcoming more Malaysian travellers to Western Australia.

AirAsia has steadily grown its presence in Australia since 2007. AirAsia Malaysia, together with its sister airline AirAsia X (airline code D7) under the airline Group fly direct from Kuala Lumpur to 4 destinations in Australia; Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and soon Darwin (4 weekly flights to commence on 27th June 2025), giving a combined weekly frequency of 22 weekly flights. The Group also included Indonesia AirAsia (airline code QZ) serving Darwin and Cairns 3 times weekly and Perth up to 28x weekly from Bali. Indonesia AirAsia will soon also fly to Adelaide (with 4 new weekly services commencing 25th June).
