Travellers into Brisbane will be very happy to learn that Airtrain fares will be included in the Queensland Government’s upcoming six-month flat rates fares initiative. As the line between Eagle Junction and the Airport stations is a privately owned initiative, you pay a premium on your fare for that section. But for the rest of the journey, you’ll pay the flat fare.
The Queensland Government flat rate fares
Starting Monday 5th August, travellers will pay a flat rate of just 50 cents to travel on public transport services including the train, tram, bus or ferry for any distance and in any direction. This new initiative, is intended to reduce congestion on the roads and the pain on the wallet. And you’ll save the cost of parking by leaving the car at home.
How does this affect Airtrain fares?
The Airtrain operator supports the Queensland Government’s initiative to help make transport more accessible and affordable. In partnership with the Queensland Government, Airtrain services to and from Brisbane City stations will be halved to $10.95.
Brisbane City stations include Eagle Junction, Wooloowin, Albion, Bowen Hills, Fortitude Valley, Central, Roma Street and South Brisbane.
Airtrain services across the network
If you are travelling further than Brisbane City on the rail network, you’ll pay $10.95 plus the flat rate of 50 cents to travel to any train station. This will take your fare to $11.45. In other words, you can travel all the way between Brisbane Airport and the Gold Coast or the Sunshine Coast for only $11.45.
Paying for your ticket
You can take advantage of this pricing in any of three ways, starting from 5th August 2024.
The offer will be available when you:
