You can now fly direct with flyDubai to Penang and Langkawi from Dubai. FlyDubai’s inaugural flight from Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), landed in Langkawi Island on the 10th February 2024, after a one-hour layover at Penang International Airport. Flydubai’s FZ1603 Boeing 737-MAX 8 aircraft from Dubai Terminal 2 of Dubai International Airport, UAE landed at Penang International Airport (PIA) at 3.03 pm and was greeted with the traditional water salute.

The onward flight landed at Langkawi International Airport at 4.25pm, where it was welcomed by officials from Langkawi Development Authority (Lada) and Tourism Malaysia. This new daily service brings total arrivals in Langkawi to 185 scheduled flights per week.

She added that Lada also offers the Special Charter Flight Incentive Programme, one of which is the Maiden Flight Incentive, which rewards airlines initiating new routes to Langkawi and maintaining scheduled flights for at least one year. This programme plays a crucial role in enabling airlines to start flights to the island.
In Penang, the flight was welcomed by State Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Wong Hon Wai, who said the Dubai-Penang route through flydubai, an Emirati government-owned airline based in Dubai, provides another option for tourists to travel to the state with direct flights. Flydubai is the first airline from the UAE to fly directly to Penang.
