Brisbane Airport Lost and Found Auctions

Ever wonder what happens to items that are lost at an airport but never claimed? You might assume that the cleaners have thousands of sunglasses and random car keys, but they do not. Instead, all lost and found items are put into a common pool and periodically auctioned off.

Brisbane Airport’s unclaimed items auction is currently running and closes at 10AM AEST on November 6, 2022. What’s up for grabs?

A quick look at the listing suggests that practically anything can end up in lost and found. Laptops, jewellery, child seats, strollers, phones, watches and even guitars. It almost goes without saying that sunglasses feature strongly – you buy them in assorted bags, not individually. Also listed are suitcases complete with their contents, a sort of lucky dip for the brave. In amongst this assortment of lost objects there are bound to be gems (quite possibly in the literal sense), so why not have a punt?

Certain to be of interest in this year’s auction is a Top Gun watch, with a bid at publication sitting at $6,400.
